Birhen san Kalooy Parish, also known as BSKP, is a newly erected parish under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Masbate. It was canonically established on October 2, 2024.
The parish is located in Brgy. Cabitan, Mandaon, Masbate, in the northern part of the Province of Masbate. It was established to respond to the pastoral needs of a diverse and geographically expansive community composed of coastal, upland, mountainous, educational, and mission areas.
As a Catholic faith community, Birhen san Kalooy Parish seeks to strengthen the faith of the people through the celebration of the sacraments, pastoral formation, evangelization, community service, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Birhen san Kalooy.
Birhen san Kalooy Parish pastorally serves several communities within the Municipality of Mandaon, Masbate.
The parish covers the far coastal area of Barangay Bugtong; the upland and mountainous areas of Barangays Sta. Fe, Mabato-bato, and Bat-ongan; and the community of Brgy. Cabitan, where the parish church is located.
The parish also serves the Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology, the lone state college in the Province of Masbate.
Through its pastoral presence in these communities, BSKP seeks to bring the Church closer to the people, especially in areas where access to regular parish services may be challenging.
Birhen san Kalooy Parish is presently shepherded by:
Rev. Fr. Tristan T. Briones
As parish priest, Rev. Fr. Tristan T. Briones provides pastoral leadership and guidance to the faithful through the administration of the sacraments, community formation, evangelization, and parish pastoral care.
Together with parish leaders, ministries, chapel communities, volunteers, and the faithful, the parish continues to grow as a community of prayer, service, and mission.
We are committed to living out Mercy and Compassion by treating every person with kindness, understanding, and love, especially those in need, reflecting God’s heart in all that we do.
Birhen san Kalooy Parish promotes the “Hutik” Devotion, a simple Marian devotion that invites the faithful to whisper their prayers, intentions, hopes, and needs to Mama Mary with childlike trust.
Anchored in the spirit of Mary’s intercession at the Wedding at Cana, this devotion encourages the faithful to draw closer to Jesus through the loving care and guidance of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Birhen san Kalooy Parish invites parishioners, families, youth, benefactors, volunteers, and friends to take part in the life and mission of the parish.
Through prayer, service, formation, generosity, and active participation, we continue to build a parish community rooted in faith and guided by the love and mercy of God.
